Free T-Shirts atSRMC Blood/Bone Marrow Drive I ' ' .v.Southeastern Regional Medical Center will hold a "Labor of Love? Give Blood" drive on Thursday, August 6 from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the SRMC Assembly Room Blood donors may also participate in a bone marrow drive at this event The first 150 donors will receive free T-shirts. According to the American Red Cross, the supply ofblood tends to fall to critically low levels during summer months while the heed for blood tends to increase. The Augustdriveisajoint effort between SRMC and the Coastal Carolinas Health Alliance to help make sure that the local blood supply meets seasonal needs. The Alliance is made up of nine hospitals, including SRMC. across a six-county area in southeastern N.C. "In addition to giving blood, those w hoattend this drive may also participate b\ becoming registered for bone marrow donation," said Durham White. SRMC assistant director of human resources, who is coordinating this event. "There will be no need for the donor to undergo an extra procedure to do this. All that is needed is one small additional sample ofblood at the time of the blood draw." Donors arc encouraged to call SRMC at 671 -5562 toschcdulc a time for their donation. Reading For Success Workshops The Robeson County Church and Community Center offers (at no charge) a three session workshop to train volunteer tutors These certified tutors arc prepared to tutor school children in reading at the County elementary schools.
